Dr. Bindu Srinath, Founder, Akriti Learning Centre, has been in the field of special education for more than a decade. She began her journey helping her son overcome his challenges in both academics as well as daily living. She has been helping children with learning difficulties such as Dyslexia, ADD, ADHD and Autism spectrum.
Dr. Bindu is the Founder of BLISS Movement therapy. She believes that effective and structured movement is the most important foundation skill required for learning in children. Movement is an integral part of BLISS. Having seen the positive learning outcomes in children, movement breaks have been incorporated into the lesson plans in all our programs.
Dr. Bindu is a trained Orton Gillingham (OG) practitioner certified by Dyslexia training institute, USA. She is a trained expert in Davis learning strategies and a certified special educator (Madras Dyslexia Association, India). Dr.Bindu is a Double Doodle play instructor (Brain Gym, USA), BLISS movement therapy facilitator, a certified International Brain Gym instructor and facilitator as well as Bal-a-vis-x practitioner (Bal-a-vis-x, USA). Dr. Bindu has published two workbooks (English and Math) specifically focusing on the challenges of children with learning disabilities.
At Akriti, she ensures that every child is in a loving, trusting and inclusive environment.
Learning Disabilities (LD) are neurologically based processing problems. These processing problems interfere with basic skills such as reading, writing, spelling and/or math and or executive functional skills.
If your child is struggling with academics and is not at his or her grade level in areas of reading, writing, spelling, comprehension and math, an assessment can determine if your child has a learning difficulty.
BLISS is an integrated movement therapy that incorporates movements from various disciplines. These structured movement exercises have shown positive and successful results in areas such as focus and attention, cognition, memory and motor skills.
Rishi / Keshav / Vaishnavi attended Remedial, BLISS and Subject remedial classes at Akriti. Not only did their academic performance improve, their confidence level increased.
I could see a lot of improvement in Prateik’s social interaction, sitting tolerance, eye contact and ability to respond to questions when spoken to. Also received a positive feedback from school.
Admissions are open for Kinder Prep -A preschool program for children ages 3 yrs to 7 yrs. The program is specifically designed to support children with special needs. Registrations are open.
